Chelsey Culley-Love is an educator with a degree in Human Service Counseling and a concentration in Exceptional Student Ed from Old Dominion University. Chelsey also holds a Master’s in Reading, Language, and Literacy from Georgia State University.
Love has seen many sides of the classroom over her nineteen years in the profession. She has taught many spectrum of learners. Her journey began as an Exceptional Education teacher in a self-contained classroom in Homestead, FL. She later transitioned to a pull-out resource model servicing students in grades 3-5 in Atlanta, Ga. For the past seven years, she has looped between the 3/4th grades creating an engaging, joy-filled, critical, and rigorous learning community with her scholars. Love is currently an advanced teacher who has felt the lows and highs of virtual teaching and growing with her students and colleagues during this global pandemic.
She has seen the manifestation of her dreams for a worthy learning system for Black and Brown children while building with educators across the country as a co founder of Abolitionist Teaching Network. This work was the fuel for Love’s teaching before she knew how to conceptualize the enormity of its importance. Lovey is currently a third grade ELA and Social Studies teacher who is beyond excited to safely return to in person teaching.
She loves singing Broadway hits, cooking, and dancing with her twins. She is also more than ready to jump on a plane to breathe “out of town” air with her partner, B.Love.
