Join ATN for our 2nd annual conference.

It's back! Join ATN for our 2nd annual conference. We will be building community with you all and speaking candidly with other educators, students, parents, and organizers for educational liberation. Marc Lamont Hill will be the keynote speaker.

Abolitionist Teaching Network is fundraising to support educational freedom!Since our founding in July 2020, ATN has been freedom dreaming, planning, and springing into action. So far we've invested $150,000+ in grant funds to individuals and communities, expanded our team to help us materialize our goals, organized engaging and informative panels, supported wrongfully accused and persecuted teachers and have been actively building towards an abolitionist teaching future.

September 24, 2022, ATN will gather radical and imaginative minds to dream 'Beyond Survival: Protecting What We Have and Fighting For What We Deserve'. This gathering will be a space for dreaming, planning, action, and self-care. We have curated a space for sharpening our understanding of abolitionist teaching in order to build and lead collective movements for educational freedom. A space where our supporters will strategize alongside ATN towards a future where Black and Brown children are free and assist us in our mission to develop and support those in the struggle for educational freedom. Hear from our dynamic keynote speaker, Marc Lamont Hill. Learn practical takeaways to apply in your city from abolitionist youth, educators and community organizers. Explore how ATN Grantees are successfully implementing abolitionist teaching practices and building communities through the following panels:

  • Teaching Truth & Responding to Repression
  • York Youth: Bringing Our Books Back
  • Abolitionist Curriculum: Tech, Bilingual Education, STEM and Climate Justice
  • Afrofuturism & Freedom Schooling
Participants will then have the opportunity to attend various panels each featuring multiple workshops with scholars, activists, and abolitionists in many forms. These workshops will address diverse issues in education including teaching truth in a right-wing climate, banned books, abolitionist curriculums across subjects, afrofuturistic schools, and more. All participants will have an opportunity to freedom dream in working sessions facilitated by ATN Grantees, attend engaging activities and join ATN in the celebration of another year of protecting what we have and fighting for what we deserve. We look forward to your support of our mission and to joining us in the building and celebration of our work together!
